Carolinas Icarus Chapter  -  About Us

·          The Carolinas Icarus Chapter was formed on September 2, 2005 by 33 Charter Members from North and South Carolina.   The Coast Guard Academy Parents Association National Council officially recognized the Chapter as an affiliate on September 16, 2005.

Our Purpose

·          To foster a sense of community and support among area parents and guardians of Cadets and Graduates of the Coast Guard Academy by facilitating communication;

·          To provide and advise its membership of opportunities for support activities for the Cadets;

·          To provide a line of communication with the Parents Association National Council;

·          To expand parent, guardian and public understanding and appreciation of the Coast Guard Academy and to share that information within the local community.

Our Name

·          Our Chapter was named for the World War II era USCGC ICARUS WPC-110, which has significant history involving both North and South Carolina.   You can read about the USCGC ICARUS at ICARUS History and WW2 ICARUS.
