Welcome to the Golden Gate Chapter of the Coast Guard Academy Parents Association. Our Mission is to provide support and encouragement to the cadets, their families, the Coast Guard Academy and the Coast Guard at large from the Northern California Region. Our membership area extends from Fresno to the Oregon border, from the Pacific Coast to Reno.

My son 1st class cadet, Jesse, has been in the Academy since the summer of 2002. We have seen him grow into his role of student, leader and most importantly, a responsible caring individual. As President of the Golden Gate Chapter I welcome all new parents into our chapter and hope we can be a source of information and support to you, the parents and families, as your son or daughter travels back east to one of the most exciting learning times of their lives.

We generally host two meetings a year and due to our large geographical area, meetings can be small. We like to invite the new cadets before they embark on swab summer to gather at one of the local Coast Guard bases and meet with cadets who can unofficially welcome them into their new school life. I would also like to encourage you to get involved in our group and help us restore it to a vibrant, involved group that is both active and growing.

Hopefully, you will find support and friendship in our group as well as a valuable source of information. After three years involved in the Academy as a parent, I can usually get an answer out from my own experience or point you in the right direction to find out any questions or concerns you may have.
