The summer has come and gone as quick as an eye can blink.
Fall heralds new beginnings at the Academy, anticipation for the future comes to mind for most every Cadet and their Parents. No matter if you’re a new Fourth class or a Firstie the New Year will bring great joy and sorrow for each and every Cadet.
Becoming a responsible Adult is not an easy journey and being an adult that eventually will be responsible for the lives of there subordinates is an even greater challenge.
Parents take the time to listen to your cadets as they explain their achievements and their disappointments, be there for them constantly, expect phone calls at all hours and don’t be disappointed if you don’t hear from them for weeks on end.
The Dykens family along with many other families of First Class Cadets is experiencing our last year at the Academy. Time has seemed to have flown by as we look back remembering stories of Rota, Lisbon, Washington DC, Flight experiences, Eagle exploits, and sector and cutter assignments. Also we remember the new friends that we have made along the journey. The Cadets have their own lives that they lead but the Parents we have our own adventures as well, savor the moments as they seem to flash by as would a flare in the sky. Enjoy the ride.

Mark your calendars the Annual All Service Academy Military Ball is back again, on December 27, 2008. This is an incredible event in Orlando Florida, at the Rosen Center Hotel. More information will come out soon you don’t want to miss it.
Also with Brian now being a Firstie that means we will soon be moving on. Our Chapter is in need of several positions to be filled. President, Vice President and Treasurer Offices will be vacated. If any parent is interested please contact me, Tony O’Brien, or Donna Jaffares. The chapter usually transissions leadership in the spring so that the new Officers can be up and running by SWAB summer.
With the fall sports kicking into high gear we would like to recognize your Cadet’s achievements so drop me line at Bradlr1@msn.com so that we can mention them in the next news letter.
