Minutes of the Spring 2008 General Membership Meeting
May 10, 2008
Cape May Training Facility

    In attendance: Paul & Lorraine Kauffman, Ed Collins, Dave & Mary Yoder, Nina McElroy,                                                                                                                                                                                              Mike & Lynn Richter, Don Rulon, Rich & Peggy Vihonski, Bill Stark, Charlene Delanoy.

     Meeting called to order by Paul Kauffman.

•    Review and approve minutes of last meeting (1/27/08).  All in favor.
•    Last treasurer’s report reviewed.  No changes in balance since last meeting—no new funds collected, no expenses incurred/submitted.
        Voted that there would be no contribution to the National Association because of the upcoming expense of the AA Ball, R-day social,
        and Chapter welcome. Approved. All in favor.
•    Ways and Means: Vihonski’s stepping down.  Bill & Jeanine Stark assuming the chair.  Discussion about license agreement fees for items sold by W & M.
•    Welcome Picnic.  Arrangements by Charlene Delanoy.  June 1, 2008 at CG Air Station-Pomona NJ.  Will begin with Q& A.
        As of May 10 there were 12 planning to attend.  There may be more as offer letters are still going out from CGA.  Volunteer list for food.  (Also open to prospective cadets).
•    Pre R-Day Social.  Arrangements by Dave & Mary Yoder.  Approximately 500 attended last year.  Made arrangements with ARA Food Service for simplicity.
        Will coordinate with Chesapeake & Potomac Chapter Parents Association.
•    All Academies Ball.  Arrangements by Nina McElroy.  When CGA hosts we will do so with Merchant Marine.  Date for this year’s ball: December 28, 2008.
        To be held at the Union League in Philadelphia.  Suggested that ‘save the date’ cards go out.  Agreed to donate $500.00—must research as to where this is sent.
        Gift cards as favors for the cadets was OK (but they varied in dollar value). This year USCGAPA suggesting cash donations so that gift cards can be purchased in like increments.
        Donation approved.  All in favor.
•    R-Day and Parents Weekend.  Arrangements by Lorraine Kauffman.  USCGAPA pre-reserved local hotels for families and guests.
