USCGA Parents Association
Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter
Meeting Minutes
Sunday November 4, 2007.

Meeting was held at Berry Hall, USCG Yard Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD.  Seven cadet families were represented.

The meeting was called to order at 3pm by chapter President, Tim Jarman.  Tim thanked everyone who helped out with the table at Parents Weekend and commented on how the organization cannot survive without parent support.  Tim thanked Lois Jarman and Lou Hepp for their work with the pin and ribbon sales.

Minutes from the last meeting were reviewed.  Tim again encouraged area parents to consider the at large positions available on the National Executive Council.  Fran and Mike Burnett reported that there was $6500 in savings and $3500 in checking.  An invoice from Eileen Hull for costs associated with Parents Weekend had not yet been received.  Fran mentioned that name tag blanks will have to be reordered and that it was a cost of roughly $3500.

Discussion was held on our donation to the academy.  Tim will email the request list to everyone for consideration.  Mike Burnett suggested a donation to the endowment fund and Gail Black suggested purchasing a tool kit for each company.  Members are encouraged to consider what donations they think most appropriate.  A vote will be taken at the December meeting.

Don Hager presented new ideas for Ways and Means.  He is asking for member input on ideas.  Don will send out some item ideas for comment via email and is hoping to make a decision by the December meeting.

Tim also thanked Dale Langston for agreeing to run for the position of treasurer.  Dale will work closely with the Burnetts this year.  Melanie Langston has agreed to replace Gail Black as our Pre-Rday chairperson.  Tim also mentioned that we still need someone to cover the positions of vice president, secretary and membership.  We would especially like a parent from the class of 2011 to step up to serve as vice president.

Upcoming dates announced:  Sunday December 9-Holiday Party at TISCOM-3pm
Saturday December 22-Joint Service Academy Holiday Ball
Saturday February 2-C & P Breakfast meeting.  Location:  TBA

The chapter will put together company treat boxes at the December meeting.  These will be delivered during the academy Dark Ages (in February).  Parents are encouraged to check the website for items to bring to the February meeting.  We will stuff the boxes then and they will be delivered to the academy the last weekend in February.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 and everyone enjoyed tailgate grub and fellowship.
