Academy & Coast Guard Information

SAMPLE Schedule of Events for Reporting-In Day (subject to change)

 

Time Event / Activity
7:00am Parents Center opens at Leamy Hall. Leamy Hall Snack Bar
(The Drydock) open. Coffee and donuts are available in the lower lounge of
Leamy Hall. Faculty and Staff are invited to meet with parents and guests.
8:00am Guided van tours of the Academy Reservation will depart from
the front of Leamy Hall every half hour until 11 AM (elderly and disabled
guests only, please).
9:00am Visitor Center, Exchange, Gift Shop and Museum open until 5
PM.
10:00am Video Presentation. Discovery Channel CGA Specific Piece.
Leamy Auditorium.
11:00am Presentation by Commandant of Cadets to parents and guests
on Swab Summer Training Program in Leamy Hall Auditorium. Followed by
question and answer period. Leamy Auditorium
11:45am Presentation by Academy Chaplains and Cadet Counseling Staff
in Leamy Hall Auditorium. Followed by question and answer period.
12:30pm Picnic (Sponsored by the NE chapter Parent's Association) for parents
and guests will be held in the Leamy Hall ballroom and adjacent terrace.
1:00pm Search and Rescue Demonstration: Coast Guard
boat/helicopter. Thames River.
  Cadet Room in Chase Hall opens for viewing until 4 PM.
Guests should enter and exit the barracks through the North archway of Chase
(off Bear Drive). Signs will be posted to provide additional direction.
2:00pm Introduction of Academy Senior Staff members and President
of the National Parent's Association to parents and guests in Leamy Hall
Auditorium. Each member will give a brief presentation and a question and
answer session will be conducted after all have spoken.
3:30pm Conclude question and answer period. Coast Guard Academy
staff departs.
3:30pm National Parent's Association Open Forum in Leamy Hall Lower
Lounge.
4:30pm International Cadet Swearing-In Ceremony in Henriques Room.
Presiding Official: Superintendent
5:00pm Swearing-in Ceremony on Washington Parade Field. Presiding
Official: Superintendent.
5:30pm Class photograph at the south end of the Washington
Parade Field. Immediately following the Class photograph, parents and
guests will have a final opportunity to meet with their cadets.
6:00pm Swab Summer Training Program commences.
