Parents Weekend

This is one of the most important weekends of the calendar year for our organization. Except for Reporting-In Day and Graduation, this weekend is one of the biggest for the parents, and the Academy goes all out to put together an excellent program. For those who can make the trip, it is well worth it!

October 12-14, 2007

Friday, October 12th

0700-2000 Drydock Snack Bar Open in Leamy Hall. 

0730-1600 Coast Guard Academy Bookstore Open – Chase Hall. 

0800-1250 Parents Association Executive Council Meeting – Alumni Hall. 

0800-1540 Parents invited to attend classes with permission of the instructor. 

0800-1600 Parents Association Presentation Tables – Leamy Hall Ballroom and Lower Lounge. 

Local Chapters offer souvenir items for sale to raise money for cadet activities.  
Sign up for Parents Association membership at the Alumni/Executive Council table.  
Current members are encouraged to stop by and check their contact information.  

0800-1700 Coast Guard Museum Open – Waesche Hall. 

0900-1700 CGA Writing Center instructors available in the Writing Center – Waesche Hall  

0900-1600 Coast Guard Exchange Open – Johnson Hall.  

0900-1500 Visual Ship and Aviation Simulator Open House – Yeaton Hall. 

1000-1200 Coast Guard video presentations – Leamy Hall Auditorium. 

1400-2000 Chase Hall Open for visitors. (Cadet escort required) 

1400-1600 Company Officers and Chiefs available in company wing areas. 

1800. CGC EAGLE Open for Tours – City Pier, New London (by train station).

1600-2000 Officer Christian Fellowship Pizza Dinner - Smith 

1600-1700 Musical Presentation by the Glee Club & NiteCaps– Leamy Hall 

1700-1715 Drill Team Presentation -- Leamy Hall  

1715-1815 Fourth Class Cadet Drill Down Competition – Leamy Hall 

1830-1930 Dinner (tickets in advance)  

1930-2030 Jewish Services – Chapel  

2000-2100 Local Chapter Meetings – Smith Hall. 



Saturday, October 13th 

0700-0815 Continental Breakfast provided by the Parents Association – Leamy Hall 

0730-0800 Parents of Class of 2008 Photo (Objee Plaza) 

0800-1600 Coast Guard Academy Bookstore Open – Chase Hall. 

0800-1300 Parents Association Presentation Tables – Leamy Hall Ballroom and Lower Lounge.

0800 Liberty expires for Corps of Cadets 

0815-0845 Parents Association General Membership Meeting – Leamy Hall 

0845-0915 Question and answer session – Leamy Hall Auditorium with the Commandant of Cadets, Dean of Academics, Director of Athletics & Regimental Commander. 

0900-1500 Visual Ship and Aviation Simulator Open House – Yeaton Hall.

0900-1500  Coast Guard Exchange and Mini-mart Open – Johnson Hall. 

0945-1045 Review of the Corps of Cadets & Award Ceremony – Washington Parade Field.

Liberty will be granted to cadets upon completion of the review. 

1700. Coast Guard Museum Open – Waesche Hall.

1500-1900 CGC EAGLE Open for Tours – City Pier, New London (by Amtrak station)




Sunday, October 14th 

0900 Catholic Mass – Chapel. Coffee/donuts after service. 

1800. Dry Dock Snack Bar open in Leamy Hall

1030 Protestant Service – Chapel. Coffee/donuts after service.

1100-1500 Coast Guard Exchange Open – Johnson Hall/Mini-Mart. 

1600. Coast Guard Museum open – Waesche Hall. 




Cadet Liberty Policy 

Overnight liberty will be granted to all cadets not in the duty section or administratively restricted over Parents' Weekend. Liberty, for unrestricted cadets, will commence upon completion of the last military obligation on Friday, 12 October and will expire at 0815 on Saturday, 13 October. Liberty will be granted on Saturday, 13 October to all unrestricted cadets upon termination of the Review of the Corps of Cadets and will expire at 1245 that same day. Overnight liberty will be granted on Saturday 13 October to all unrestricted cadets at 1430, (with the exception of administratively restricted cadets) to expire on Sunday, 14 October in accordance with the regular Sunday liberty policy. Restricted cadets may route a special request to their Company Officer for overnight liberty. All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.   

Administratively Restricted cadets may entertain guests in the Chase Hall Parents Room and in Leamy Hall per cadet guest schedule in the Cadet Regulations.
